Managed software lifecycle operations

Reliable production is a path, not a hand-off.

OSSForge operates the route from an approved release to a recoverable production environment — so your team can keep owning the product.

A clear operating boundary

You own what the software does. We own the operational path that keeps it running.

OSSForge is not a substitute for product engineering, application support, or a software vendor. Your application owner stays responsible for the software and its technical validation; your nominated release approver controls what goes to production.

We make approved releases deployable, observable, patchable, auditable, backed up, and recoverable across the environments that matter.

Who owns what

One boundary, written down.

OSSForge ownsThe operational path
  • Environment and runtime operation across the customer-approved estate — typically test, staging, and production, with development where agreed.
  • CI/CD pipelines, controlled deployment, rollback, patching, and upgrade execution.
  • Backups, verified restores, and disaster-recovery drills against agreed objectives.
  • Platform security monitoring, containment, and tamper-evident audit evidence.
  • Capacity, cost visibility, and optimization — material cost changes need your approval.
You ownThe product
  • Product direction or vendor relationship, application source code or software-usage rights, feature work, and application-code fixes.
  • Product-specific test design, expected behavior, and business acceptance criteria.
  • Approval of production releases, major upgrades, and material operational changes.
  • Business configuration, application behavior, and in-application roles and permissions.
  • End-user support and remediation of application-code vulnerabilities.

Every workload keeps a named application owner — your engineering team, or a nominated developer or vendor. OSSForge operates the platform and never becomes that owner.

The operational baseline

Evidence at every critical point.

01

Release control

Defined environments, protected production approvals, staged validation, and a known rollback path for every release.

02

Recovery readiness

Backups are monitored, restores are verified, and recovery procedures are tested against agreed objectives.

03

Platform visibility

Health, deployments, privileged actions, and operational evidence are recorded and visible to the customer.

04

Dedicated by design

Each customer runs on dedicated, single-tenant infrastructure — cloud, on-premises, or hybrid.

The first reference deployment

Grounded in a real deployment.

An OSSForge-operated, live ERPNext/HRMS payroll deployment is the first system we run under this model. Today it has production, staging, and testing environments; controlled upgrades; scheduled production-to-testing and on-release production-to-staging refreshes; a verified database snapshot before every release; an armed rollback path; and release records tied to the exact deployed artifact digest.

The operating model is production-ready, with off-appliance encrypted backups and a timed appliance-replacement recovery drill supporting a fully auditable release and recovery system. In a design review, we can walk through the controls, evidence, and operating procedures we use to run a customer environment:

  • A sanitized architecture diagram of the environment estate
  • Release records with the exact deployed artifact digest
  • Rollback tests and pre-deployment snapshot verification
  • Scheduled and on-release environment refreshes with staging validation
  • Health and change history over time

Built for two kinds of teams

You stay in control of the product.

Engineering-led companies

Keep engineers focused on product work while OSSForge runs the production platform.

Businesses with a software partner

Operate critical vendor- or agency-maintained software. A competent, contactable application owner and the required licenses and vendor-support rights are a condition of service.

About OSSForge

A managed operating model, run by operators.

OSSForge is an operations company — not a staffing agency and not a general consultancy. This service, Managed Software Lifecycle Operations, does one thing well: run the path from an approved release to a recoverable production environment, so the people who build the software can stay focused on the product. It is one of two OSSForge service lines; managed open-source business systems is the other.

We operate from India. A deliberately small team is supported by reusable automation and a written operating methodology, giving every environment a consistent set of playbooks that are tested and improved over time.

Managed software lifecycle operations

Begin with the real environment

Before steady-state operation comes stabilization.

We assess the workload, establish a minimum operating baseline, validate access and recovery, and agree the release and escalation model. Acceptance is subject to a supported-stack and stabilization assessment — we run a deliberately simple runtime (containers or VMs on dedicated infrastructure, not orchestration platforms) and confirm we can operate your workload before taking it on. Tell us what you run today.
